Registration for Spring 3 Secrets & Networking & Food/Drinks Event

CJUG is looking forward to our January meeting on Tuesday next week, Spring 3 Secrets & Networking & Food/Drinks Event. Due to some technical limitations the registration page was limited to 50 people so we have created another registration page at http://gathers.us/events/spring-3-secrets-networking-food-drinks-event-2nd-of-2 . Sorry for the inconvenience if you have been unsuccessful in registering previously.

I spent $10.00 and an hour (1 way) train ride from the burbs to learn about some Spring 3 features. The presentation was about 10 minutes and was a total waste of my time. There was no pizza like in the past either. I’ve been to your events before and won’t be back.

I’m sorry that the presentation was not what you were expecting. I have received feedback from others with similar responses. We had planned a more significant technical presentation but time got away from us as we had a hard stop at 7pm, and I apologize. Like I said, the networking part of the event is something new for us and we have learned how to mitigate this situation so it won’t happen again.

There was no pizza because there was an appetizer buffet and drinks available 7pm to 8pm sharp which was the networking part of the evening. Everyone was welcome even if you did not want to network with peers or our sponsors. The food was a significant step up from our regular pizza menu, but we may not be able to maintain that level of cuisine for future meetings, defaulting to the good old stable of pizza. I’m sorry if it was not clear that the food and drinks was available after the presentation, even if you didn’t want to network.

We are considering creating another presentation track for those of us in the burbs (including me), effectively reviving the old CJUG-West meetings. I hope you continue to receive our announcements on chicago-java@yahoogroups.com and the other social media channels for updates when they occur.
